Resources for HIV/AIDS & Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration

You are invited to participate in an upcoming online forum.  Share your experiences and lessons learned.  Discuss issues with guest experts from USAID, international agencies, and projects in the field.

How to participate

To sign up send an e-mail to info@ibpinitiative.org with “FP/HIV Integration Forum” in the subject line.  In your e-mail, please include your name and the name of the country in which you work. You will receive an e-mail response explaining how the forum will work.

How the forum will work

During this month-long forum, you will receive only one e-mail a day with all the contributions for that day presented as a single daily digest e-mail. You will be able to participate in the forum simply by responding to this daily e-mail. Or, you can contribute to the discussion via the web, through the Implementing Best Practices in Reproductive Health Knowledge Gateway at www.ibpinitiative.org.

The forum will provide you with up-to-date and state-of-the-art information on what is happening in the field and an opportunity for synergy between sharing global best practices and country-based experiences. This online forum will build upon existing partnerships and activities among three groups: the Implementing Best Practices in Reproductive Health Initiative (IBP) Initiative, the Maximizing Access and Quality Subcommittee on Client Provider Interaction (CPI), and the Family Planning and HIV/AIDS Integration Working Group.

Organizers:

The Health Communication Partnership (HCP) and The INFO Project will coordinate this online forum, in conjunction with the Implementing Best Practices in Reproductive Health (IBP) Initiative. The IBP’s Knowledge Gateway provides a place for organizations working in international health to host online communities of practice (CoPs). This forum will also launch a new online community of practice on integration of family planning and HIV/AIDS services, where you can continue to discuss issues raised by integration and share your experiences with others working in this important area.

Schedule:

Each week the forum will focus discussion on a specific aspect of the issue of integrating family planning counseling into HIV/AIDS services with several experts on hand to provide an introduction to the issue, answer questions, and stimulate discussion.

Week 1 will be a follow-up to the March videoconference on the same topic.  The objective will be to address lingering questions and delve deeper into some of the issues that were raised.  (see http://www.fpandhiv.org/videoconference/cpieventpage.php for more on the videoconference).

Week 2 will focus on provider perspectives/barriers to including family planning in HIV/AIDS counseling.

Week 3 will focus on client perspectives on family planning counseling in HIV/AIDS settings.

Week 4 will be regarding future directions/challenges/barriers.

We hope this will be a productive month of interesting and targeted discussions. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, questions or concerns.
