FEATURED STORY
In Dakar: Family Planning Takes Center Stage at Upcoming Conference
Since mid-July, K4Health has been hosting a series of online forums, On the Road to Dakar: Moving the Family Planning Agenda Forward. These forums were intended to whet participants' appetite for the International Conference on Family Planning in Dakar, Senegal.
The time has come: Next week, several K4Health staff will join thousands of leading scientists, experts, policymakers, and advocates from all over the world at the conference. With over 2,000 registrants, 140 sessions, 35 auxiliary sessions, and 40 exhibitors, the conference will be a dynamic arena to share the latest research in contraception and family planning services.

K4Health and our sponsors and partners will be hosting an auxiliary session, Global Guidance for Family Planning: New Resources, New Tools, New Media from WHO, USAID, UNFPA and Partners, on November 30th. The session will feature the 2011 edition of Family Planning: A Global Handbook for Providers, alongside its new associated mobile app for Android devices, called "ACE - App for Contraceptive Eligibility."
The session will also cover a new mobile app from WHO and the upcoming Training Resource Package for Family Planning.
K4Health staff will be blogging throughout the conference; visit /blog for updates.

South Africa's SHARE and eLearning

To facilitate information and knowledge sharing on HIV/AIDS in southern Africa, K4Health has developed the Southern Africa HIV/AIDS Resource Exchange (SHARE). The SHARE website allows program managers, government workers, advocates, researchers, and others to create and join public and private SHARE groups. Members of groups can share files, send announcements to others, start and join discussions, conduct online meetings, and more. In the coming months, SHARE will grow to include southern Africa eToolkits, eLearning, eForums, directories of people and organizations, and more. Visit SHARE at
www.hivsharespace.net.
You can also find SHARE on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
The Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) is also developing its eLearning strategy. It has begun work on an eLearning course about engaging traditional leadership in the prevention of HIV and gender-based violence (GBV). Six SAfAIDS staff members from South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe attended an eLearning workshop facilitated by K4Health, in which participants collaborated to develop a detailed outline and action plan to launch the course in the upcoming months.
